The following figure illustrates how users, groups and roles relate.
In the figure above, there are:
Six roles:
_run_as,_administrator,_search,_import,_metadata_w, andmetadata_r.Two regular groups:
regular_userandreadonly_user.The group
readonly_userdepends on the roles_searchand_metadata_r. The second group,regular_userdepends on the roles_importand_metadata_w, and also the groupreadonly_user.In the last relation,
readonly_useris called the parent group andregular_useris the child group. A user which belong toregular_useractually has all four roles.Three users:
app_user,jdoe, andmrpink.The user
app_userhas the role_run_as,jdoehas the roles_administrator,_search,_import,_metadata_wand_metadata_randmrpinkhas the roles_searchand_metadata_r.
